How to Print with AirPrint

  1. 1

Connect printer and iPhone to the same WiFi

Both your iPhone and your printer must be on the same WiFi network. AirPrint works entirely over WiFi β€” no cables or app installs needed.

  2. 2

Open what you want to print

Open the photo, document, email, webpage or PDF you want to print. AirPrint works from almost every app β€” Photos, Mail, Safari, Files, Notes and more.

  3. 3

    Tap the Share button

Tap the Share icon (the box with an arrow pointing up). In some apps like Files it may say Print directly without going through Share.

  4. 4

    Scroll down and tap Print

Scroll through the Share options and tap Print. The Printer Options screen opens.

  5. 5

    Select your printer

Tap Select Printer. Your AirPrint-compatible printers on the same network appear automatically. Select yours.

  6. 6

Set copies and pages, then tap Print

Choose the number of copies and page range if needed. Tap Print in the top right corner.

Does your printer support AirPrint? Most printers made after 2012 support AirPrint. Check apple.com/au/airprint for a full list of compatible printers. The brand's app (HP Smart, Epson iPrint, Canon Print) usually also enables printing and may offer more options than AirPrint.

Printer Not Showing Up?

  • Restart the printer and try again
  • Check the printer has WiFi enabled (not in USB-only mode)
  • Download the printer manufacturer's app as an alternative
