Frequently Asked Questions

Most common causes: encoding is too demanding for your CPU β€” switch to a GPU encoder in Settings β†’ Output β†’ Encoder. Resolution too high β€” try 1080p instead of 4K. Drive too slow β€” record to an SSD. The View β†’ Stats window shows exactly where the bottleneck is.
OBS is more powerful β€” multiple sources, scene switching, streaming, higher quality output. Game Bar is simpler and zero setup. For basic game clips, Game Bar is fine. For tutorials, streaming, or webcam overlays, OBS is the better tool.
