Click your profile icon → Account

Click your profile picture in the top right corner → select Account.

  3. 3

Find Language and select your preferred language

  1. 4

Click the audio and subtitles icon during playback

While a show or film is playing, hover over the screen (or tap on mobile) to show the controls. Click the speech bubble or audio icon (it looks like a dialogue box). A panel appears with Audio and Subtitles options.

  2. 5

Select your preferred audio and subtitle language

Choose from the available audio languages (not all titles have every language). Separately choose your subtitle language or select Off. The change applies immediately.

Set Default Subtitle and Audio Language

Account page → scroll to Profile and Parental Controls → expand your profile → Subtitle appearance. Here you can set the default subtitle and audio language that Netflix applies to all content automatically. Useful if you always prefer a specific language.

Not all languages are available on every titleAudio and subtitle availability depends on the specific title and the licensing agreements Netflix holds for each language. A title may have English audio but no English subtitles, or vice versa. The audio icon only shows languages that have actually been recorded for that specific show or film.

Yes — each profile has its own language settings. The display language, default subtitle language and audio language can all be set independently per profile. This means different people in a household can have their preferred language set on their own profile without affecting others.
